The Origins of Orpheia: Humanity’s Greatest Mistake
The greatest monsters are not born in the wild.
They are created by people who believe they have the right to control life itself.
As development continues on my upcoming sci-fi manga project, I wanted to share a deeper look into one of the most important parts of Orpheia’s story—the moment everything began.
The latest pages take readers back to a hidden chapter of history, revealing the origins of the Chimeras and the dark military program responsible for their creation.
A Weapon Disguised as Progress
Before the wastelands, before the rebellion, and before Orpheia ever questioned who she was, there was a secret project.
Governments and scientists sought to create the perfect soldiers—stronger, faster, and more adaptable than ordinary humans. Their solution was both revolutionary and horrifying.
Human DNA was fused with animal genetics.
The result was the birth of the Chimeras.
These hybrid beings were designed to be expendable assets rather than citizens. By ensuring they were not considered fully human, those in power could deny them rights, freedom, and individuality.
To the scientists behind the project, they were not people.
They were property.
Orpheia’s First Memories
One of the most emotional sequences in the story explores Orpheia’s fragmented memories of the laboratory where she was created.
Cold white lights.
Sterile research facilities.
Scientists observing from behind glass.
Machines monitoring every heartbeat and every genetic alteration.
As a young subject trapped within this system, Orpheia experienced the painful transformation that slowly gave her the tiger-like traits she carries today.
The claws.
The stripes.
The heightened instincts.
The features that made the world see her as something other than human.
Yet despite everything they changed, one thing remained untouched:
Her ability to think, feel, and dream.
The Birth of a Question
At the heart of Orpheia’s journey lies a question that follows her throughout the story:
“Am I supposed to be human, or something else?”
It is a question born from rejection.
A question created by a world that labels individuals based on what they are rather than who they are.
As the story unfolds, Orpheia must confront the truth about her origins while deciding whether she will allow her creators to define her future.
More Than Science Fiction
While Orpheia features futuristic technology, military experiments, and post-apocalyptic landscapes, the story’s true focus is identity.
The manga explores themes such as:
Biological ethics
Freedom versus control
Discrimination and rejection
Found family and belonging
The meaning of humanity
Every battle in the story is ultimately connected to these larger questions.
The conflict between the Chimeras and The Architects is not simply a war.
It is a struggle over who has the right to define what life is worth.
Looking Forward
These laboratory flashbacks represent only the beginning of Orpheia’s story.
As more pages are completed, readers will discover the rise of the Chimera resistance, the secrets of The Architects, and the difficult choices awaiting those caught between human and monster.
The world may see Orpheia as a failed experiment.
But every revolution begins with someone refusing to accept the role they were given.
And Orpheia is about to do exactly that.
The rebellion is growing. The truth is emerging. And this is only the beginning.
